How do Medicare drug plans work?
Medicare prescription drug plans are similar to prescription drug plans you may have had before.
Generally, you are eligible to enroll in a stand-alone prescription drug plan (also called Part D) if you have Medicare Parts A and/or B. It can be added to a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan, or certain Medicare Advantage plans that do not include prescription drug coverage.*
Why you might need coverage
Medicare Parts A and B don’t include prescription drug coverage. This means you may have to pay for your medications out of pocket.
Medicare prescription drug plans provide coverage for your medications and can help lower your overall drug costs.
